As our Assistant Financial Controller, you will be a central figure in our finance and operations department, supporting the company-wide accounting function. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role is perfect for a detail-oriented professional with strong construction accounting experience who is looking to grow their leadership skills and contribute to a well-established and evolving organization.

Responsibilities

• Manage WIP reporting and job cost tracking across multiple construction projects
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries and account reconciliations
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger
• Assist in preparing financial statements and monthly/quarterly closing processes
• Oversee accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and payroll processing
• Support subcontractor onboarding and compliance, particularly for public works projects
• Ensure compliance with union and prevailing wage reporting requirements
• Collaborate with leadership to improve financial systems and reporting accuracy

Qualifications

• 5 or more years of accounting experience (3 or more acceptable with a strong construction background)
• Previous experience in construction accounting is required
• Proficiency with WIP schedules, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
• Hands-on experience with Spectrum Viewpoint or similar construction ERP systems
• Strong Microsoft Excel and overall Microsoft Office skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Willingness to submit to a background check and periodic drug testing
• This is an onsite role based in SE Portland; remote work is not available

Compensation & Benefits

• Full-time position
• Competitive salary range at $78,000 to $92,000, depending on experience
• 401(k) plan with company match (approx. 5%)
